Stories of Change | Girl's Education South Sudan

Stories of Change is a series of animations about girls education in South Sudan, written, designed and illustrated by participants on a week-long animation and storytelling workshop in Juba (2017). The group was made up of participants from Rumbek, Yambio and the Juba Protection of Civilians Camp (PoC).

The workshop included topics including animation principles, visual storytelling and writing for film. The group identified the themes of displacement, patriarchy, and poverty as the main barriers to education for girls, that they went on to create animations about.

'Poni’s Journey' was selected to be presented at the International Day of the Girl Summit 2017, at the United Nations in New York and the film's creators were interviewed for a radio feature on Radio Miraya, UN Mission South Sudan.
