Stories of Change, Girls Education South Sudan
Stories of Change is a series of animations about girls education in South Sudan, written and illustrated by participants on a week-long animation and storytelling workshop in Juba. Produced by Medical AId Films in partnership with Girls Education South Sudan, the project brought together participants from rural and urban settings across the country, and Juba’s Protection of Civilians Camp (PoC).
The workshop included visual storytelling, stop motion animation and writing for film. The group identified the issues of displacement, patriarchy, and poverty as the primary barriers to education for girls that they went on to make films about.
'Poni’s Journey', was selected to be presented at the United Nations, New York, for International Day of the Girl Summit 2017, and the film's creators were interviewed for a radio feature on Radio Miraya, UN Mission South Sudan.
